Algemene dopingzaken

Sofie De Vuyst, onlangs in België nog uitgeroepen tot "Flandrienne van het jaar" is betrapt op het gebruik van steroïden in een out of competition controle.
Ze schreeuwt haar onschuld van de daken en heeft geen idee hoe de verboden stof in haar lichaam kan zijn gekomen.
Dit lijkt op wat begin dit jaar ook Denise Betsema is overkomen, al werd die positief getest na afloop van een wedstrijd, ook betrapt op steroïden en ook zij beweerde van niets te weten. Het is wel heel opmerkelijk dat dit al bijna 8 maanden speelt en ze nog steeds maar "voorlopig" geschorst is. Zijn de bewijzen dan toch niet zo waterdicht ?

Samenvatting: er is nu een nieuwe Russische Herman Ram(ov). Deze man spreekt zich uit tegen een geldende mentaliteit van het oude regime. Geeft aan dat de data gehackt is en dat uitslagen zijn gewijzigd buiten het zicht van de RUSADA om. (Zoals @ZeeKoei ook aangeeft).

Er worden nog wat mensen aangehaald die of het verhaal van Herman Ramov geloven of het volledig een charmeoffensief vinden.

Ram naluisterend, lijkt het me dat de (meesten van de) huidige generatie Russische schaatsers er in zou moeten kunnen slagen om als neutraal atleet mee te mogen doen aan WKs en de OS, want Ram zegt, min of meer, dat tegenwoordig RUSADA (wel) te vertrouwen is en (ook) dat tegenwoordig de stalen naar Lausanne gaan voor testen ipv in Rusland getest worden.

ik vroeg me al af waarom UEFA buiten schot bleef. Dit kan wel een goede verklaring zijn.
 
Als eigenaar-trainer van volbloeds (lees rensport) heb ik van jongs af aan (was ooit de jongste eigenaar in NL) te maken gehad met doping. Een berucht middel, in mijn tijd was het product Laura Bolin, een spieropbouwend en versterkend preparaat. Werd vervaardigd door Squibb, UK. Je kon het gebruiken tot plm 4-6 weken voor de koers.
Samen met een aantal andere eigenaren uit ons kleine entrainement weigerden wij om ooit iets van doping te gebruiken. Onze paarden waren 0 - nada zero.
Toen al, eind zestiger jaren, werd door de diverse rencomitées de absolute nullijn gehanteerd. Een paard dat medicijnen nodig had, was dus niet fit en hoort niet in een wedstrijd thuis.
De meettechniek van de laatste jaren is dusdanig technisch perfect dat bijna alles meetbaar is.
Dat betekent dus ook dat iedere vorm van vervuiling gemeten wordt en meegenomen wordt in de testresultaten.
Eveneens groeit de lijst met verboden middelen. Zelfs spinazie staat op dit moment ter discussie. Dat enerzijds.
Opvallend vind ik het aantal astmatische sporters. Astma is een aandoening aan de luchtwegen die min of meer ongeneeslijk is. De geijkte medicatie zijn middelen zoals Clenbutanol en Salbutanol en staan op de lijst van verboden stoffen en is het voor een sporter heel moeilijk binnen de door de WADA ingestelde grenswaarden te blijven omdat vernauwingen in de luchtwegen nu eenmaal kunnen variëren. Mede ook afhankelijk van waar je schaatst en op welke hoogte.
In de zestiger jaren experimenteerde ik al met telemetrie om de verrichtingen van een renpaard in beeld te brengen, te zien hoeveel caloriën het betrokken paard gebruikte en dat in de diverse stadia van beweging.
Nooit ende tenimmer hebben wij gebruik gemaakt van industriëel gemaakt voer.
De nul-clausule is bikkelhard.
Een paard van een relatie van mij werd positief bevonden nadat hij de Engelse Derby had gewonnen.
Stoffen zoals serotonine werden aangetroffen en het betrokken paard werd genadeloos gediskwalificeerd. Wat was de oorzaak?
Een stalmeisje had haar 'lieveling' een Marsreep gegeven. Met de catastrofale gevolgen van dien.
Als wij in het buitenland koersten, werd de gaststal waar het paard ondergebracht werd volledig ontsmet met Halamid. Drinkbak, complete stalruimte en voerbak. Beducht op doping van buitenaf.
Een sportpaard kan geen keuzes maken.
Resumé:
Als je een gezonde topatleet ben, probeer op de nullijn te blijven. Ziek? ga niet naar een wedstrijd. Als je prof ben en je moet, aanvaard dan het brisico dat je onvermijdelijk loopt.

Kleine kanttekening: dat meetapparatuur bijna perfect zou zijn in het meten van afwijkingen is wat te rigoreus gesteld. Zeker bij het meten van afwijkingen in lichaamseigen stoffen is dat nog wel eens een probleem (en dat heb ik het nog niet eens over natuurlijke oorzaken van permanente danwel tijdelijke afwijkingen in lichaamseigen stoffen, hoewel bloedpaspoort wel helpt daarmee)

Ok so maybe it's time for me to shed some light on the situation with doping in Russia. But first, I'd live to make a little disclaimer: the following post contains my personal experiences and personal opinions, I would be more than happy to link some Russian news sources and articles on the matter but due to their high degree of bias and influence of propaganda, I will withdraw from such practice.

That being said, I'm a Russian ex-pat myself. I was born there but left at the age of 14 and have lived elsewhere (including the Netherlands) ever since. However, I'm settled in Estonia for good now, I have been living here for almost 5 years at this point and here is where I took up speed skating professionally. Therefore, I am racing for Estonia and this is the only place I call home. I will not say anything more than that publicly, if you are really interested in the full story, feel free to DM me, but it's not hard to guess that one does not leave their home country out of the best life :)

@EenBrabander sent me a pic of a Dutch paper Trouw today titling Sporters Rusland vier jaar geschorst followed by another title, Kremlin hekelt uitsluiting als anti-Russische hysterie. He was interested in the thoughts I have on the matter knowing my past experiences. Well, if there is something I must mention first and foremost is that I feel incredibly sad for the clean Russian athletes. In the face of the system that they fell victims to, they are helpless. They can only contemplate the actions of the government that has the audacity to claim that they care about the athletes... while the only action the government takes is blaming the West and the foreign federations/associations in conspiracies against Russia. They are fine with using an "anti-Russian hysteria" as an excuse but besides from that, no change will be made. There will be alot of propaganda spread in the media in an attempt to instill the hate in people towards other countries and the foreign athletes. There will be lots of false and questionable accusations of the foreign athletes and anyone who stands for them - of course, no evidence included. Standard tools of any "democracy".

Of course, that is not to say that all, absolutely all Russian athletes cheat. Of course, there is a great amount of dopers that are abusing the system and is going along with it. People like that, in my opinion, must be thrown out of competitions of all sorts. But there are those that are clean. Whoever is clean and has always been clean are being rid of their chance to compete, wrongfully so, even if they had done nothing wrong. Thanks to the system they're into, the country that doesn't stand up for them and absolutely no attempt to improve the situation. Why would it be improved though? As long as it lasts, it can be used as a very powerful propaganda tool.

I would encourage any clean Russian athlete to perform for other nations, I would be happy to see the countries of their new destination protect their reputation and stand up for them. Right now, they are willing to fight for the reputation of the state that doesn't care about them and is not ready to fight for them in return in case of a grave misconduct or a scandal. Also, I cannot help but feel incredibly sad for the future and present of the young athletes that we have not yet seen: it's not hard to see that they will most likely be losing their hope for a chance to participate internationally and get any sort of recognition abroad as the government is killing all the development in the sports sector in its core.

I am proud to race for Estonia and be sure that no doping violation will be tolerated here. Thanks for making it till the end of my rant.

I fully understand your feelings regarding the WADA ban concerning the RUSADA scandal.
The Rusada scandal and its turbulence has been put in gear and are the results of actions by some very powerfull people in the Kremlin environment.
There are still confidential meetings going on between the parties involved as ISU, WADA and CAS.
It is not likely that WADA will reset their judgements in the very near future. Unless politicians decide otherwise.
But there are other questionable things going on. WADA has appointed another (so called independent) agency to take over testing in general. It is a body that has been recently established, called ITA. It is not unlikely that this body will replace the testing facilities of NADO and RADO DCstations - i.e. puttingthe national testing facilities aside.
Another conyroversial issue is the A and B urine sample. Both remain in the custody of the DC controlstation, read WADA. Which leaves in fact the sporter empty handed.
In fact, he or she should have his/hers own fully sterile bottle to fill under supervision of a public notary this bottle with the urine content of the urine as donated by the tested person.
All handlings and manipulations should be photographed, as well as the numbers of the kits A and B, together with the sample which remains in the posession of the tested sporter.
It is always possible that samples will be openend during the transportation. In order to prevent this, all caps of the samples should by glued with industrial acrylcyanide.There is a recent paper of some juridical bodies who doubt the legitimity of the WADA testing proceedings.I have downloaded their arguments, but sofar they are not proofed and objected.
The steady growing list of banned elements, whatever they are, is alarming. It is impossible for a sporter to check all items blacklisted, the moer that right now reular vegetable are under suspicion.

Dat is ook precies wat er gebeurde met de Yara v/d Kerkhof case. Het is mijn oprechte mening dat WADA in dit geval al haar gemaakte kosten moet vergoeden.
Een menselijk lichaam wordt gecontamineerd door industriële voedingsmiddelen waarvan de schadelijke elementen deels onbekend zijn. Het ontwijken daarvan is vrijwel onmogelijk.
