I wasn't sure where to put it but I think it fits here. But I found out that Ants Antson is buried at the cemetery in the neighborhood where I live. So I'm thinking of paying him a visit.
For context: i dont know if i ever mentioned it but I'm a death-positive person (member of the
Order of the Good Death/death-positive activist? if you wanna call it like that) and everything around the topic of death fascinates me. In Estonia, we have a
nationwide database of cemeteries. It's maintained very diligently and carefully and everyone (with an Estonian ID card) can contribute. Every cemetery is mapped out with detailed information about every single plot/grave and who is buried there.
There is a section for "culturally significant graves", too: on the map they are marked purple. If you click on them, you'd find detailed information about the deceased person that was important for Estonia's history. And then there're "regular" graves, they are in blue.
And here is Ants' grave, marked blue (yellow here because I clicked on it). As if he wasn't the Olympic and European allround champion! Which is strange, given that his plot is surrounded my graves of culturally significant people, one of which is Kristjan Palusalu (446E), an Estonian wrestler and a well-renowned athlete.
I kinda take it personally as someone with great love for both Estonia and speed skating as well as their history and culture so... Good thing is, as someone with an Estonian ID card I can fix this mistake
