Her en der deden al wel een mensen het, met recentelijk Artyom Kuznetsov op de sprint en Elena Sokhryakova op de lange afstand een paar jaar geleden, allebei niet bijzonder succesvol. Vorig seizoen waren het Huizinga en Jilek, gevolgd door Stolz, die de trend aanvoerden.

Je kan eigenlijk beter de vraag stellen wie er ooit als eerste mee gestopt is. Tot in de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw reed namelijk iedereen op die manier de bochten.

De Franse juniore Violette Braun gaat naar Azië! Mooi nieuws voor haar en voor ons. En met een beetje geluk schaatst ze zich naar het EK Allround. Ook mooi nieuws voor Germain Deschamps, ook hij gaat naar Azië. De verdere Azië-ploeg kent overigens geen verrassingen: naast Braun en Deschamps gaan Thiebault, Loubineaud, Belloir en Trebouta.
Verder goed nieuws voor de ploeg: met financiële hulp van FdJ is het doel om de komende jaren stappen te zetten in het internationale circuit en om daar een volwaardig damesteam neer te zetten.

Vreemd dat ze een juniore naar de senioren world cup sturen en niet de snellere senior Julia Nizan.
Hoe zijn eigenlijk de plaatsingsregels voor het EK Allround en sprint?

Volgens mij is dit het belangrijkste:
- Maximaal 3 per land
- Kwalificatie in WB1 en WB2
- Afstanden die tellen zijn 500m & 1000m en 1500m &3000m/5000m
- Mocht je op die afstanden slechts één limiet hebben, mag je in WB1 en WB2 ook de andere afstand rijden. Dus: bijvoorbeeld Braun en Fierar mogen ook een 1500m rijden..

Ja, zoiets. Er zijn al een boel prequaluificado's op grond van het EK van 2 jaar geleden. Waaronder een Zweedse vrouw bij het allrounden.
Dan is er op het Congres nog een regel aangenomen waarbij je niet meer dezelfde schaatser op afstand 1 en afstand 2 hoefde te hebben. Ik kan uit de vage beschrijving in de communicatie niet opmaken of dat nu geldt of niet. Dus dat de Duitsers Beckert 's 5000 mogen optellen bij Emele's 1500. Wat overigens ten eerste niet fijn is als je geen echte allrounder hebt. En ten tweede zou het eerlijker zijn om dan echt de tijden op te tellen ongeacht wie het geschaatst heeft. Dus dat je tijden van Ghiotto ook 2x mee mag nemen en niet alleen zijn snelste.
"A Special Qualification Ranking List (SQRL) will be formed by the combined results (total points in accordance with Rule 265, paragraph 3) of Skaters from the same ISU Member competing in 1500m and 3000m (for Women) and 1500m and 5000m (for Men) in World Cup Competitions designated as qualifying Competitions."
And: "A Special Qualification Ranking List (SQRL) will be formed by the combined results (total points in accordance with Rule 265, paragraph 3) of Skaters from the same ISU Member competing in 500m and 1000m in World Cup Competitions designated as qualifying Competitions."
Seeems to me that they rank all the skaters by their best achieved times, then combine the 1.st ranked from each nation on the 1500 and 1.st on 5k calculating the points and so on.
At det same time: "For the Qualification World Cups (WC-1 to WC-2), a Skater having achieved the qualifying time for only one of the two distances counting in the qualification of quota places for the ISU European Championships (for the Allround combination: 1500 and 3000m for Women, 1500 and 5000m for Men; for the Sprint combination: 500 and 1000m Women and Men), may be entered also for the other distance. However, in each World Cup Competition an ISU Member may enter for each category (Allround and Sprint) maximum one such Skater (per gender) without the required qualifying time for the other distance counting for the quota qualification"

What seems strange to me, is that two years ago, the wording in the last quoted paragraph was: "...For the Qualification World Cups (WC-2 to WC-4), a Skater having achieved the qualifying time for only one of the two distances counting in the qualification of quota places for the ISU European Championships (for the Allround combination: 1500 and 3000m for Women, 1500 and 5000m for Men; for the Sprint combination: 500 and 1000m), may be entered also for the other distance. This time the rule is just for the europeans? Its also kind of strange to have a system where you have to go to Asia to qualify for the Eurochamps... Might as well arrange the EK and the 4CC in the very same (World Cup) Event.

Well, I think it refers towards Kai in ‘t Veld, since Greece isn’t a ISU member..

Is er wel een limiet waar je minimaal aan voldaan moet hebben om die andere afstand ook te rijden? Anders zou bijvoorbeeld Maren Liiv een 5km mogelijk rijden. De laatste keer dat hij dat deed was in 2017 een 7.39.... Nou zal deze sprinter daarvoor niet kiezen, maar misschien bijvoorbeeld een Balint Bodei wel.

Dat voordeel is toch vooral dat er meer landen kans maken om startplaatsen te veroveren voor het EK. Dat is toch niet iets dat schaatsers uit andere continenten ambiëren.
De kans dat schaatsers die een afstand waarvoor ze de limiet niet hebben gereden, opeens startplekken voor het WK afstanden gaan veroveren lijkt me erg klein. Pas dan zie ik een echt nadeel voor schaatsers van andere continenten. Maar het zou al bijzonder zijn als ze punten pakken voor de wereldbeker...

Je kunt uiteraard limiettijden eisen, maar ik zie het probleem niet zo. In Inzell reden er wel meer dan 20.For the EK allround and sprint I agree with you. But you cant have 3 from every country although its fun to imagine 3 French, 3 Portuguese and so on.

I guess that participating in the World Cup can be big in itself. To practice at a high level, get experience etc. If you are a skater from Argentine that have made the limit on the 1000, but not the 500, such an opportunity could be important trying to obtain World Cup limit-times and so on.
