So I can tell you now about Nisse's secret weapon, because there's nothing you can do about it at this time.
In the 5.000 meters Nisse skated three slower laps in the middle of the race. This was not from fatigue or anything else detrimental, but he was actually slowing down intentionally, because he was going too fast for his schedule, which was set at lap times of 29,1 that would have him finish at 6.09,2 with a starting 200 in 20 seconds, just one tenth ahead of Patrick Roest.

In the picture you can see Johan Röjler showing Nisse "04" on his board at 2600 meters. This means his 0,4 seconds ahead of his schedule. An just after this he produces three laps of 29,3 - 29,2 - 29,3 getting him back on schedule (or rather one tenth behind, which is still better than 0,4 seconds ahead).
He wanted to beat Roest with as small a margin as practically possible to fool him into believing he would stand a chance on the 10.000 meters, when he really doesn't. This will make Roest start to fast and virtually die in the end – as on the 5.000 – and put Nisse's greatest threat out of the competition.
There you go! Good luck!
2020, toen hij 12.35 reed in Thialf?Wel interessante race, kan me dit niet herinneren van Patrick zo?
