    Sorry for writing in English....

Love the forum, and reading helps me in learning Dutch and discover ice skating.

    Quick question.

What hear rate monitor do you use? I have a Suunto t6 and am trying Polar RS800CX, but both have a problem that when I am skating with my hands behind my back....they don't show heart rate...

Am curious to hear your thoughts.

    Alvast bedankt.

I have a polar RS200, and it doesn't show the heart rate either when skating with two hands on my back. Luckily i don't skate with my hands on too often, so this isn't really a problem for me.

Another issue which i didn't find a solution for yet: how can you see the display, when you are skating with your hands on the back?

    Yes.....that is a good one...

But when I bring my hands back to front, I want to see what it has been...and want it to calculate a true average HR....

I guess there is no answer to this one.

    It is give and get.

Nope. I think that the transmission power of the heart rate signal is just too low to get through your body. So you body just absorbs the radio signal, and your reciever doesn't get a HR signal.
Maybe a cool project to make a mod to put more power on a polar transmitter?

I use a polar 710i and have no problem with the signals while skating. I skate marathons without problems..
I turn the watch on the insie of my wrist and so I can check time and heartrate while skating.

Turning the watch inside out might do the trick.....
I will have to try that.

I've got the Polar S625X and never had problems with heartrate monitoring.

Is the battery strong enough in the sender unit around your chest?

    Yes...both RS800CX and WIND transmitter....brand new,...with brand new batteries.

I think I will now try the Suunto memory belt....that should work as HR is recorded on memory belt and then downloaded onto the computer.

This may sound odd, but in theory the sensor belt can also be worn with the sensor on your back.

This is exactly what I wanted to say.
I'm using a P725i , tried it with the sensor on my back and it worked.

Thank you everyone for support....you can indeed write in Dutch....I will do my best to read it.

I got the Suunto memory belt....that records all heart beats...and it works very well.

Now to the difficult part....ice skating!!!

    Cheers.

adjust the min and max values of your training zone and turn on the warning beep. you will then be notified when crossing the treshold. that's probably the only thing you will be really interested in during a training or competition...

or indead buy yourself a monitor with memory function so you can analyse the results afterwards. that makes sense.
