I am from Singapore currently on a business trip in Duesseldorf. I used to skate in Sweden, and finished the 80-km Vikingaraennet in Stockholm last fortnight.

I am returning to Singapore next week, and would like to use my Swedish skates one last time this season in the Nederlands. I will drive from Duesseldorf.

As I have never visited Nederlands (except for Amsterdam), can someone recommend a good area to go skating? I know that the weather has been excellent in the last few days, so the ice should be good. I am looking for a tour anywhere between 20km to 100km long.

I'm mad about skating, so please help!

I'm sorry but there aren't any possibilities to skate outdoor yet but maybe if the temperature stays this way there will be possibilities pretty soon. We can keep you posted here if you want to.

If you want to know where to skate indoor in the netherlands just let us know

    Good luck!

Maybe there will be some good ice tomorrow, because the forecasts says the temperature will drop to -15 degrees celcius.

For indoor skating you might go to eindhoven, i believe that is the closest dutch track.

It's also very good to hear that someone form that far away got totally mad for skating

    dutch news

The reason why I thought that there was ice is because I was watching Dutch news (in Germany) on Tuesday night. I did not understand anything, but I was watching them interview some skaters who were skating on natural ice.

It was not a big area that they were skating in - probably it took only 3 minutes to get from one end of the 'lake' to the other.

So, I thought the ice in some parts should be quite good.

I also understand that the Dutch teletext has good information on ice, but I have been trying to find the right page on teletekst.nos.nl, but I cannot find any information. Is this still the case?

Thank you for all your supportive feedback, even though there is not much open ice. I shall certainly keep my eyes on in this forum.

Today actually we will have the first marathonraces on natural ice so I think it must be possible for you to skate to. Best is probabaly to go to the north-east part of our land. This is where all the races are right now.

Please let us know when you plan to arrive in Holland so that we can search for skate-possibilities for you. It's probably easier for us than for you as all the information will be in dutch!
