Is. Heel. Erg.

Announcement about the end of the fast-track career
I have been in the fast-moving environment since I was fourteen years old. In the Czech team I got the title of junior world champion and participated in two Olympic Games. After those in Sochi, where I was not excited about my results, I stood before deciding what to do next. I am a body and soul sprinter and specialized sprinter training does not work and do in the Czech team. Attempts to make me persistent were also not successful. So I had to find another solution. I have moved to the Netherlands, where the speed skating has a great tradition, and the coaches have extensive experience and skating there. I have come to a country where top speed skating is organized in a very specific way. Teams work similarly to bicycle stables and are funded from non-public sources. However, our sport generally works on the principle of national representations, so as a foreigner in any commercial team you never have the same position as a native Dutch, regardless of performance.
It has been interesting for four years, in fine terms. I took only a skate, a bag and a ride. I had to use all the money I had, sell a car, stay anywhere, learn another language and believe in the correctness of my choice. I was twenty and I believed my wings were growing. I'm used to working hard and when I decide for something, I can go for it. I gradually fought between the world sprinter elite and this season culminated in the Olympic medal and the overall second in the World Cup.
My departure from the Czech team, however, provoked a strong negative reaction from the representative coach Petr Novák and the Czech Speed Skating Association. Unfortunately, despite my achievements or just because of them, she has moved on a personal level. I was the target of a series of personal attacks, depicted to friends, sports partners and the media as a traitor, ungrateful and someone who is not good enough for the "Czech way". This untrue image has troubled me for years. I love my country and I am a patriot, even though it sounds like this from the times of national revival. But I come from an old Krkonoše family, my heart is firmly anchored in our hills and the opportunity to represent my country has always been an honor and a hearty affair.

For years, I have left all the attacks without comment and did not pay the same. I'm not that close to you. I am an athlete, it is essential for me to play fair. I live in a win and loss loop, I believe in hard work and in the fact that a person speaks his deeds. I was hoping that if I was patient and peaceful, everything would calm down and relations would come together.
After this year's Olympic Games, I returned to the Netherlands where I had to continue to train. Unfortunately, dramatic changes began to occur in the speed skirmish that I could not count on. Teams have fallen apart, which is normal after the season, but there are no new ones, which is not usual. The sponsors have moved to another place, and the long-running talks have been going on until May. While the preparations for the next season started in the rest of the world, the Netherlands continued to do so. The team with whom I was pre-arranged for co-operation in training did not eventually unexpectedly come to life. Without support, under these circumstances, there was also the absolute skating rink there, but for the national federation it created a rescue program. But I am not a representative of the Netherlands, so I immediately personally started to find a new place where I could train.
As I have already said, specialized sprinter training has not been done and done in the Czech team. That's why I made a deal with the Polish Sprinter Team and its trainer in May. Totally official. I am informing the chairperson of the Czech Association of Speed Skating (the union oversaw the national representation) and the OLYMP CSMV (he prepares the preparation of his athletes and is my employer) in detail and without delay. Evidence is, among other things, that the association has handled the appropriate visas and that OLYMP has paid for our training under our employment contract. So I was in peace and completely ready to enter the next season and get ready fully.

Unfortunately, I was calm as it was many times quickly brought out. Czech national coach Petr Novák questioned the level of the Polish team and the quality of his coach in the media. He also expressed the feeling that I was slow. He also added that I did not sufficiently inform her about joining the team. I fetched this lingering waist at the peak stage of pre-season preparation. At a time when the athlete focuses on performance, he is in extreme training load and it is imperative that he fully devote himself to it. I'm no longer surprised. Exactly at this time, those interested in Petr Novák's negative expression on my character and my foreign team in newspapers could read for several years. And I could enjoy the silence that was published by everyone who could and should support me because they know my story for years.
    I'm saying enough this year.
This false version is so blatant that it has made me change my attitude. As soon as I learned about this statement in the media, the extent of my willingness to submit was overcome. Although I was at the moment in an important concentration camp in Minsk, it was clear to me that I had to accept some solution. So I came home and wondered how to go.

Sport in its extreme form is my life, I enjoy, I am in good physical condition, healthy and prepared for the season. Ready to race. Just as I'm ready to spread the glory of my country in the only way I can. To do that, I have two options.
First: continue as it does so. It will come to me humanly poor.
Second: Become a citizen of another country and skate for her. It does not suit me.
I'm trying to live so I can be proud of what I'm doing. But I still need to be proud of what I do not do. I can not withdraw from my principles simply because I do not feel right now. That's why I chose the last option that is still available.
I'll stop taking part in everything.
I thank my family, friends and everyone who accompanied me on my skating trip. Thank you OLYMPUS CSMV, which has always been a reliable and top professional partner, and my personal partners, the ERA, Pardubice, and the Dutch company Control Seal, without any material and human support I would not have done. I also thank the Polish Skating Federation, the team of Polish Sprinters and coach Tuomas Nieminen for taking me with each other, and apologizing to them for the fact that it all ended so soon.
I will not comment more on the matter and thank everyone for their respect.

So no big goals on the ice?

“You know as of now, it’s hard to say. It’s hard for me to say retirement, so I am not counting it out by any means and I am sure it’ll develop into a 2022 goal.”
